    I completed my first pair of these over a year ago. Just the original pink foam panels hanging in our living room. My wife made some fabric covers that slip loosely over them so they match the drapes. I love them. Now I am thinking about a much smaller pair. Maybe as small as a cell phone using some lightweight thin material. I am wondering if it will work to mount the panel material to the exciter and then mount the exciter to a base or stand instead of hanging the panel. That is can I invert the design so the fixed object is the exciter and the "floating" object is the panel?

    Not to discredit the graduate student at Rice University, but as soon as I heard "Flash Graphene" and "James Tour" my curiosity tanked. There's obviously some great science here, but James Tour is a never-ending fountain of science denial, plagiarism, suppression of scientific insight and fraudulence. If you want to know more about graphine and nanotechnology, reference literally anyone else in the field.

    • @TechIngredients

      Despite your antipithy towards James Tour, remember that he was the one who brought this graduate student into his lab and gave him the opportunity to pursue this research. Also, that student was appropriately credited with developing this process.

    • @TechIngredients
      @TechIngredients День назад

      No. The cooling rate is key to the production of graphene vs. graphite. Once the carbon has been cycled, the current flow through the tube changes a lot and unpredictably.

    How does this not violate thermodynamics? Im exited to see the math

    • @TechIngredients
      @TechIngredients День назад

      You don't even need math to understand the principle. As I explained relatively early in the video, the sky is VERY cold. We don't notice it because we are surrounded by warm air or the sunlight that most surfaces absorb well. A coating that can radiate infrared efficiently and reflect sunlight away will cool below the surrounding air temperature.

    If you do this without the lamp, I would be interested to see if the dried materials could be changed back into their previous 'quality' by putting them into water. As for the wood, does the vacuumed wood still burn as well? Better, or worse? Does the wood soak air into it as soon as the vacuum stops or does it still have 'vacuum bubbles' inside, thus making it harder to ignite? Vacuum bubbles is probably wrong, as the material more likely shrinks and closes those gaps in it. Measuring the woods volume could be interesting. By how much did it shrink and does this differ between the types of wood? Could you this way find out if one is a very gassy wood, while another is very dense? Styrofoam would be also interesting to see. I assume it increases in size drastically until the bubbles pop and every air is sucked out. A marshmallow would be also a nice test in this regard. Marshmallows increase in size if you put them in a microwave. I wonder if it would also do this after being vacuumed? I kind of doubt it, as the marshmallow likely transforms into a sugar gel in vacuum, which then contains no air bubbles that could expand in a microwave.

    I think this concept is the best solution to protect a family & their property. If things get as bad as some are projecting, I believe a variation of this is the best solution, however I am open to alternatives. If it gets to the point where they are marauding gangs roaming the neighbourhood looking for their next target if you can deter them from choosing your property, this is a much cleaner system. In Canada we don't have the level of access to firearms than they have in the US. This would be much cleaner than getting into a shootout. Or does someone have a better idea? I don't often hear Preppers advising on how to protect the home, they're more interested in what's for dinner.

    fantastic video, I really enjoyed it, as always! A curious note about the mentioned herb cilantro: some unlucky people like myself have a gene that allows us to taste aldehydes which leads to cilantro tasting like soap and stinkbugs. A single leaf of that herb will ruin any dish for me. Also this reminds me of a concentrate sitting in my fridge of 9M Scoville, I definitely need to film myself trying that again ;)

      You have the advantage of relatively low humidity. Use our cooling coating on your roof and various walls. Add an evaporative augmention of a conventional air-conditioning system, and if you want, a large mass (sand or water) thermal storage system to move the energy you do use to the night time hours when electrical costs are lower and I think you'll be successful. We'll be covering this in our upcoming videos.

    This has to be the most hilarious video you two guys have ever made. Thanks for a very entertaining hour. 🤣👍 The hottest I've ever tasted was about 650,000 on the Scoville scale. One pepper eventually made more than 20 chilli dishes for two. I keep fresh peppers in a sealed container in the freezer. They can be kept in there for years. Just wear gloves and slice a piece of frozen pepper off when you need it. And yes, getting it from your fingers and into an eye - or somewhere else when visiting the bathroom - even when you've worn gloves as protection, is not funny.

    Thanks for the demonstrations. There is an issue with the data in the video, maybe caused by the Go Pro camera: You need indicators which are much easier to read on a computer. I didn't catch what the different figures represented, so my apologies for missing that. Unfortunately, none of the data on the nearby LCD was visible. I could only see some bar graphs. The figures on the second LCD were sometimes partially visible. The first digit, was visible at times, but I couldn't see the others. Was it showing engine thrust in Newtons? The only clearly visible screen was the LED in the foreground showing what might have been motor data. Watts, perhaps?

    Here's a tip for clearing the heat out after a particularly spicy bite. Eat something abrasive like toast or a Triscuit or something. The mechanical scraping of a rough surface against your tongue reaaly helps. At a guess, I'd say it's actually exfoliating the surface of your tongue. Of course this wont help with your lips, your cheeks, your throat, your pallet or your esophagus, but at least your tongue gets some relief.
